This book examines the administrative and legal aspects, as well as the social and economic conditions, through the record of decisions issued by the Rights Ruler in the Karak Court between 1919 and 1922. It documents many details related to these aspects, including administrative functions and terminology, laws, lawyers, witnesses, government departments and buildings, social titles, professions, and crafts. The book also sheds light on the status of women in Karaki society, the economic and commercial aspects, markets, shops, taxes and fees, types of currency in circulation, villages and regions, animals and their products, land and methods of cultivation, as well as agricultural crops and their prices. It reveals various facets of public life in the Qasabat Al-Karak during the years 1919–1922, through a documented record of daily life and the movements of notable figures and the roles played by the city’s elites from the effendi and notables classes.
